A meal you remember, brought back to your table.

Tell us about a dish you can't forget — a plate from a town you may struggle to place on a map, a soup from a grandmother's kitchen, a dessert from a café you visited once. We do the research. We name the dish, where it came from, and what surrounded it. Then, if you want it, we recreate it.

This is not a menu service. The chef reads every request personally and writes back with what he believes the dish was — often with a single clarifying question. If we can identify it and our kitchen can do it honestly, we'll quote the work. If we can't, we say so, at no cost to you.

There is no wrong way to fill this out. Skip any section you don't remember — "I'm not sure" is a real answer, not a missing one. The more clues, the better the recreation, but the chef will write back regardless.

A city, a region, a country, the kind of place — restaurant, café, bakery, market stall, home kitchen. Anything you remember about the room.

A year or rough era, the time of day, the season if you can remember.

Not personal curiosity — these details often identify the dish faster than the dish description does. A honeymoon, a school trip, a grandmother's kitchen.

What it was like

Color, shape, how it was cut or plated, what it sat next to on the plate, what it was served in or on.

Sweet or savory, hot or cold, the dominant flavor, the texture, the aroma if you remember it.

A photograph, if you have one

If you have a photograph from that day — even a phone shot — it often does the work of three sections above. We may use the date and location data inside the file to help identify the place. You can strip that data before sending if you prefer.
